ART Space in the heart of Antwerp

Well: we think that there is no objective criterion to qualify something as 'artistic'. Nor that 'artistic' is an intrinsic quality as waves of semantic layers emerge through context and are not inherently present in the art object itself. Yes, yes ... Duchamp and all that jazz. So, in space60 we present what resonates with something of ourselves: heart, soul, mind, guts or other. Therefore, what we present can be figurative or abstract, conceptual or obvious, hilarious or deadly serious, intimate or overt, cubist or hyperrealist, holy or worldly, implicit or explicit, black and white or colorful, recorded or live, imploding or exploding, loud or silent, small or large, mono or multi, alive or dead, early or contemporary, perfect or broken, wet or dry, palpable or immaterial, now or never, healthy or lethal, here or there, edible or poisonous, dissonant or consonant, solid or liquid .... and preferably all that at the same time. Or not. Because a human being is many animals. Our aspiration is that it might also resonate with something in you. Or not. Give it a try.

Prof. dr. Ching Lin Pang (University of Antwerp and Catholic University Leuven)  has a master degree in Sinology, and PhD in Social and Cultural Anthropology. At UAntwerpen she is coordinator of the Language Group Chinese and Academic Director of the Postgraduate Program China Europe Cultural Curatorship Studies. At KULeuven she teaches the course 'China and Global Politics'. As both an academic and gallerist she believes that art emerges at the intersection of (self-)reflection and creativity.

Dirk Seghers (MA Germanic Philology, MA Sinology, Artistic Director, Curator) has worked as curator for music and festivals in Switzerland (Belluard / Bollwerk Festival, Fribourg / Freiburg), in Arts Centre Beursschouwburg (1991-2006) in Brussels and was artistic director of Arts Centre Recyclart (Brussels) from 2009-2020. Over 30 years, he has staged more than 2.000 events (concerts, exhibitions, residencies, festivals, parties, lectures and hybrid happenings).
His main driving forces are amazement and inspiration.

We are both members of ROCAD (Royal Chamber of Art Dealers).
‍
We both also have a gallery, specialized in Medieval and Asian Art, in the Sablon area in Brussels (Rue des Minimes, 25 in 1000 Brussels) 'Seghers & Pang Fine Arts'.
